Siddharth Roy Kapur To Create Series From Bestseller ‘The Anarchy’
Roy Kapur Films head honcho Siddharth Roy Kapur has picked up exclusive screen rights to The Anarchy: The Relentless Rise Of The East India Company, William Dalrymple’s bestselling historical epic.
The bestseller was released in 2019, the book encompasses more than 200 years, covering how the infamous East India Company rose to prominence against the decline and fall of the storied Mughal Empire.
It provides a remarkable account of how a provincial trading start-up, run by thirty people from an office only five windows wide in a nondescript London building, became rulers of an entire sub-continent; in the process establishing the richest and most powerful empire in the history of the world.
The official handle of Roy Kapur Films confirmed the same, it said, “History shall unfold in the most fascinating way! #SiddharthRoyKapur announces an international scale series adaptation of @DalrympleWill's acclaimed global bestseller, #TheAnarchyTheRelentlessRiseofTheEastIndiaCompany #roykapurfilms #series”
After Dangal, The Sky Is Pink, and Yeh Ballet, Kapur is plotting a major TV adaptation of the text and is now bringing together an international creative team to begin crafting the script.
