Moradabad Incident Is Shameful Says Javed Akhtar

Veteran lyricist and screen-writer Javed Akhtar expressed his angst on the recent case of attack on the doctors and health workers in Moradabad.

Covid19 Pandemic has affected family, social and work life in such a way that the world has come to a standstill. Frontline workers are working day and night to protect our lives by risking theirs. But unfortunately every other day cases of them being assaulted by the public are being reported in the country.

In a tweet, Javed Akhtar shared, "I can't imagine how ignorant one has to be to attack those who are at the risk of their own lives are out there to save other lives. What has happened in Moradabad is a matter of great shame. I request the educated people of that city to somehow contact and educate such ignorants."

On Wednesday 15 April, three persons including a doctor were injured as a crowd of around 200 people attacked a health department team who went to take samples of Covid19 in Moradabad. Police has arrested at least 17 people involved in this brutal attack.

Many bollywood celebrities have condemned this heinous activity of attacking the frontline workers. They are trying their best to educate people through their social media messages to stop assaulting them. UP government has also taken strict measures to stop such activities in the state.

As per the latest reports, India has a total of 14,425 covid affected cases with a death toll of 488 people.
