People’s Health First Says Pankaj Tripathi On Angrezi Medium Theatrical Release

Irrfan Khan’s comeback family drama, Angrezi Medium had only one day release in theatres before the lockdown was implemented and the movie was taken down, now actor Pankaj Tripathi says that people’s health and well-being comes first, movies keep coming and going.

Talking about Angrezi Medium’s theatrical release being cut short due to lockdown, Pankaj Tripathi said, “People’s health and well being is priority, cinema keeps coming and going. The film was taken down after the first day and now it’s streaming on digital platform. Public health and safety is important, if public is there, we will make more movies.”

Sharing screen-space with Irrfan Khan has been a dream of Pankaj Tripathi, and for the first time Stree stars shares his admiration for Irrfan.

He said, “Working with Irrfan Khan was amazing, quite happy sort of experience. We have been learning from Irrfan Khan just by watching his work, and I so badly wanted to work with him. I have been a learner all of my life, so I have seen him, watched him, learnt from him. At times I’d tried to figure out his craft, with so much ease and subtlety he performs. So working with has been amazing. It was such a special feeling.”

Talking about his character in the film, Pankaj said, “The character I did was rather a simple one. When I was doing dress-up and prep, I decided that if my character is wearing Arabic-Gown, than he will speak bad Hindi, once that got worked out, body language changed for the character, so it was quite an organic character.”
