Twinkle Khanna And Rajkummar Rao Condemn JNU Attack

Bollywood celebrities Twinkle Khanna and Rajkummar Rao condemned the attack which took place in the campus of Delhi's Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) late on Sunday night.

JNU students and staff were attacked by masked men armed with sticks and rods. At least 28 people, including JNU Students' Union president Aishe Ghosh, were injured as chaos reigned on the campus for nearly two hours.

Actor Rajkummar Rao took to his social media profile and called the attack shameful, horrific and heartbreaking. He wrote, “What happened in JNU is shameful, horrific and heartbreaking. Those who are responsible behind these attacks should be punished. #JNUViolence”

Actor turned author and producer, Twinkle Khanna who is known to always speak her mind on important issues took to her Twitter handle to condemn the brutal act. She wrote, “India, where cows seem to receive more protection than students, is also a country that now refuses to be cowed down. You can’t oppress people with violence-there will be more protests, more strikes, more people on the street. This headline says it all.”

Providing supporting the students in Delhi, a group of film fraternity members such as Anurag Kashyap, Anubhav Sinha, Gauahar Khan, Taapsee Pannu, Sudhir Misra, Vishal Bhardwaj, Reema Kagti, Zoya Akhtar, Dia Mirza, Rahul Bose, Richa Chadha, Ali Fazal, Reema Kagti and more hosted a peaceful protest at Carter Road in Mumbai last night.

The celebrities shouted the slogans, carried placards and even sang the Indian National Anthem with the entire fan base present at the venue.
