​Good Newwz Is A Hit In Making - Review

The comic caper features two couples seeking IVF treatment at Dr Joshi’s hospital in Mumbai –Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor Khan as Varun and Deepika, the second couple; Honey and Monika played by Kiara Advani and Diljit Dosanjh and both coincidentally share a surname ‘Batra’.

The couples are eager for parenthood, Akshay and Kareena are trying everything possible for the pregnancy, on the other hand, Diljit - Kiara are trying but scared as they had suffered two miscarriages in the past.

Miracle doctor, Joshi is their final hope and destination and as luck would have it, the tests are positive. It should be time for celebrations but there is a problem. The technical department of the hospital has mixed up the sperms because of the common surname.

After a lot of deliberation which included suing the hospital and even seeking refund, but the would be mommies decides to go ahead with their pregnancies and the film is all about their love- hate anxieties and pressures.

The director handles the second hour most admirably. A number of sequences are maturely handled. The film is filled with sincere and noteworthy performances. Kareena Kapoor Khan is sublime after a hiatus. She is pitch-perfect. Akshay Kumar is in terrific form. His emotional quotients are balanced.

Diljit Dosanjh arrives late in the film, but once he does, he takes the film to another level. Kiara Advani struggles to find her pitching in first half but but post interval, she makes sure she scores big.

Actor Adil Hussain is extremely talented and he deserves applause. Tisca Chopra and Anjana Sukhani make their presence count.

Good Newwz has all the right elements and its heart in the right place. The writing and execution is perfectly balanced. Fantastic humour, heartfelt emotions and some brilliant writing, laced with top notch music score, voila, it’s a hit in making!

The film is helmed by Raj Mehta, it’s written by Jyoti Kapoor, Rishabh Sharma and Raj Mehta.
