The Supreme Court is set to hear a review plea filed one of the four men convicted in the 2012 Delhi Nirbhaya gang-rape and murder case. The petition has been filed by Akshay Kumar who is the lone Nirbhaya convict not to have filed a review plea until now. The Supreme Court had last year rejected the review petitions filed by the three other convicts -- Pawan Gupta, Vinay Sharma and Mukesh Singh. All the four men were convicted for the 2012 rape and murder a 23-year-old woman who came to be called Nirbhaya. All have been sentenced to die.
Talking about the development on Nirbhaya case, Rani said, “I feel that people who commit heinous crimes like this should definitely get a punishment. When a girl or a woman lose her life and after the incident, the kind of trauma that girl’s family go through is unimaginable so, I feel that people who commit such crimes shouldn’t be acquitted. They should get strict and maximum punishment for their act.”
