The Line follows Tom, portrayed by Alex Wolff, a scholarship student from a working-class background who is eager to ascend the social ladder. Lured by the prestigious KNA fraternity’s promises of elite status and valuable connections, Tom sees this as his ticket to a brighter future. However, his aspirations quickly become complicated when he starts a romance with Annabelle (Halle Bailey), a classmate outside of his usual social circle.

As Tom gets deeper into the fraternity’s world, he encounters the manipulative schemes of the fraternity president, played by Lewis Pullman.
