Netflix Unveils Full Trailer for Kaos: A Dark-Comedy Retelling of Greek Mythology

Netflix has released the full trailer for its highly anticipated series Kaos, a modern dark-comedy take on Greek mythology that promises to blend mythological intrigue with contemporary humor.

Created by Charlie Covell, Kaos reimagines the pantheon of Greek gods and goddesses in a fresh, modern setting. The series follows six individuals on Earth who uncover their intertwined destinies and connection to an ancient prophecy while contending with the corrupt and arrogant gods of Greek lore.

The impressive ensemble cast includes Jeff Goldblum as Zeus, who finds himself grappling with neurosis after discovering a wrinkle on his forehead, leading him to a paranoid frenzy. Janet McTeer stars as Hera, the Queen of the Gods, who must navigate her own challenges as Zeus’s paranoia escalates. Cliff Curtis plays Poseidon, the God of the Sea, Storms, Earthquakes, and Horses, whose preoccupation with his super-yacht and parties contrasts sharply with the mortal realm’s struggles.

Other notable cast members include David Thewlis, Killian Scott, Nabhaan Rizwan, Billie Piper, Debi Mazar, Eddie Izzard, Aurora Perrineau, Misia Butler, and Leila Farzad. Each character brings their unique flair to the narrative, enhancing the series’ rich, comedic tapestry.

The storyline centers around Zeus’s unraveling sanity and the consequential chaos that ensues as he perceives signs of his impending downfall. Meanwhile, his brother Hades, portrayed by David Thewlis, struggles with managing the underworld’s backlog of souls, and his son Dionysus, played by Nabhaan Rizwan, spirals out of control, threatening cosmic conflict. Hera’s authority is challenged, and Poseidon remains indifferent to the mortal’s plight as he indulges in his hedonistic pursuits.

Written by Georgia Christou and directed by Georgi Banks-Davies and Runyararo Mapfumo, Kaos is set to start streaming on Netflix from August 29, 2024. The series is expected to offer a humorous and satirical take on the classic myths, providing both entertainment and a contemporary twist on ancient stories.
