Kangana Ranaut, who has co-written and directed her second project Emergency, said art is subjective and her movie will appeal to people with intelligence.

Kangana Ranaut along with Anupam Kher, Mahima Choudhary, Shreyas Talpade and more graced the trailer launch of Emergency in Mumbai.

When asked about film being based on serious subject, and would it be entertaining for audience, Kangana said, “If you are looking for Bollywood film experience, that you will have a lot of it. But if you’re are person who has liked movies like Iron Lady, The Darkest Hour, Aandhi, Raajneeti, if you have a taste for intelligent cinema and if you are person who is invested and engaged in the nation, and if you are someone who has another dimension to his personality other than just getting ready and eating, and stuff like that, if you have little more to yourself as a person, it will engage you.”

Further adding, “Art is subjective. Something you might think as Art, may not appeal to me. I can only make what appeals to me, I cannot just make something that doesn’t appeal to me, same thing goes for other filmmakers but as an audience you must see a spectrum of films.”

“As an artist I can only open the doors of my perception to you, I cannot second guess your perception and try to please you. As a filmmaker this is my world, and of course there is fear of being dejected, or rejected, and for that matter even if does very well, there still be people it won’t appeal to, and the same goes for the biggest successful films. I cannot please everyone, but yes, it is engaging and entertaining.” said Kangana.

The film also features Milind Soman and late actor Satish Kaushik. It is slated for 6th September 2024 release.
