Writer, director and actor Farah Akhtar, who graced the trailer launch of docu-series Angry Young Men, said Salim-Javed writing has influenced his writing and work.

Speaking at the event, Farhan Akhtar reflected on how the work of Salim-Javed, particularly their films from the 70s, has shaped the cinematic landscape for generations. He stated, “I think all of us, who grew up in the 80’s, and the product of the films that were made in the 70’s, we all carry the legacy of Salim-Javed within us. It’s just about being a part of their family; the impact and influence of their films on all creative minds was and is undeniable.”

Akhtar acknowledged that while their influence is not about consciously emulating or copying their style, the stature of the characters and stories crafted by Salim-Javed has inevitably seeped into contemporary writing. “When I write scenes, there is a certain stature to the parts they have written. Every character contributed in some way had a personality, had a way of speaking, had a moment in the film, and it has subconsciously come into the kind of writing that we do,” he added.
