Tusshar Kapoor Reflects on Career-Defining Role In Golmaal

Tusshar Kapoor recently discussed his iconic role as Lucky Gill, a flamboyant and adventurous mute troublemaker from the Golmaal series, and how it has impacted his career. Reflecting on the role, Kapoor shared his initial apprehensions and eventual satisfaction with the character’s reception.

He said, “In the beginning, it felt daunting. Even with my new role in Dus June Ki Raat, I'm playing something entirely different for the first time. I often wonder how audiences will react. I had similar feelings about Luckyl. There was always a sense of nervousness about how people would perceive the character.”

Kapoor praised the freedom he was given to explore his role, noting, “In cinema, mute characters are often portrayed with very limited expressions, usually relying on sign language. No one had shown them in such a flamboyant and adventurous light before. Thanks to the director and the creative freedom I was granted, we took risks that, in retrospect, paid off remarkably well.”

He added, “It’s a common fear to feel apprehensive about how a role will be received, but seeing the audience embrace and love Lucky has made it a career-defining moment for me. It’s been an incredible journey, and the positive reception has been immensely gratifying.”

Golmaal has released 4 instalments so far, all of them superhits, helmed by Rohit Shetty, featuring Ajay Devgn, Tusshar Kapoor, Arshad Warsi, Shreyas Talpade in recurring lead roles.
