Tanya Maniktala, the rising star known for her roles in acclaimed projects like "A Suitable Boy," is making waves with her latest venture into the action genre in the film "Kill." In a recent interview, Maniktala shared her perspective on the film's approach and her optimism about its reception.

When asked about any doubts regarding the film's success, Maniktala confidently said, No, I never thought about that, see as an audience, I do watch a lot of action movies, I love action, because I have seen this genre just like another form or medium of storytelling. We do have romance, comedy, drama, thriller, and horror, these are genres, so is action, it is also a genre, and within that genre, we were trying to showcase something new, so I didn’t think about it for a second.”

Maniktala underscored the film's commitment to offering something new within the action genre. She added, “We are not glorying the action, and like Karan Johar told me, action is also an art form, and we are doing something new, so I don’t know about criticism, but people will recognize the newness and appreciate it. And we are taking this movie, Kill, to a whole new level, because it is getting worldwide recognition.”

“I just hope that people see it just that, action and violence is not glorified or justified, but add new elements into the action genre, that is what we have tried with the film.”

Kill premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, where it was first runner-up for the People's Choice Award: Midnight Madness. It was also screened at the Tribeca Film Festival in June 2024.

Written and directed by Nikhil Nagesh Bhat, the film also stars Lakshya, Raghav Juyal, Ashish Vidyarthi, and Harsh Chhaya.
