We’re Open To Making Swatantrya Veer Savarkar Tax-Free Says Yogesh Rahar

Film producer Yogesh Rahar says he is open to making the Swatantrya Veer Savarkar tax-free, so that the film reaches more audiences.

Yogesh Rahar, who co-produced Randeep Hooda’s directorial debut Swatantrya Veer Savarkar, along with Anand Pandit, Sandeep Singh, and Zee Studios, was interacting with the media to celebrate the success of the movie.

When asked about making the movie tax-free, Yogesh said, “As filmmakers and producers, we are hoping that the Government takes the call on making this movie tax-free, so that it reaches more people. Making a movie tax-free is a call of government, but I would appeal to the government to make it tax-free.”

The film is based on life of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, and his ideological tussle with Mahatma Gandhi. The film has been criticized for distorting history and for promoting a one-sided agenda, and to stir controversy.

When asked movie aims to stir controversy, Yogesh said, “We made sure that there wasn’t much controversy around the movie, we have stated facts, even when the movie was put-up for censor certification, they demanded some more facts about the movie and we provided them, we provided book references, there isn’t a simple thing controversial in our movie.”

Sharing an interesting anecdote about the movie, Yogesh praised Ankita for not taking any remuneration for the film. He said, “Ankita Lokhande has done a remarkable job, she played her part of Bai with honesty, and I think it’s her goodness of heart that she didn’t charge anything for her role. She didn’t take any remuneration for being part of a patriotic movie.”
