Pankaj Udhas’s Demise, I Am Still In Shock Says Shankar Mahadevan

Music maestro Shankar Mahadevan poured his heart out as he grapple with loss of Ghazal singer Pankaj Udhas, said he is still in shock and doesn’t know how to process it all.

Singers like Shankar Mahadevan and Ustaad Zakir Hussain visited his house to pay their last respects, highlighting the respect and admiration he commanded in the industry.

Singer Shankar Mahadevn spoke to media, and he said, “He took Ghazal singing to the masses, he always encouraged me and everyone, he always had an positive approach towards everything. Whenever we had to take a decision regarding music fraternity, Pankaj Udhas was always there with us.”

“We will miss him a lot, and his kids, Nayaad and Reva, they are such fabulous kids, may god give them strength to bear this big loss. I am still in state of shock, I don’t know what is going on, I am still trying to process all this, I just hope and pray, that almighty give his wife and family the strength to get over this huge loss” added Shankar.

The body of ghazal maestro Pankaj Udhas has arrived at his residence, 6A, Hill Side, here, on Tuesday, and the last rites will be held in Worli, in the afternoon.

Pankaj passed away at the age of 72 in Mumbai on Monday, after a prolonged illness. He was suffering from cancer and was undergoing treatment at a private hospital for some time.
