Vijayakanth Was A True Powerhouse Pens NTR Jr
Superstar NTR Jr mourns the demise of DMDK founder-leader Vijayakanth passed away in Chennai on Thursday. He was 71.
Sharing a tweet on his profile, expressing condolence, Jr NTR wrote, “Saddened to learn about Vijayakanth Garu's passing. A true powerhouse in both cinema and politics. May his soul find eternal peace. My thoughts are with his family and friends.”
Vijayakanth’s death was confirmed by officials of Miot Hospital, where he was admitted for pneumonia and was treated with ventilator support.
His party earlier said in a statement that Vijayakanth had tested positive for coronavirus. He kept a low profile for the past 4-5 years and his wife Premalatha formally took over the reins of the DMDK on December 14 as she was declared the general secretary at a party meet in Chennai.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also mourned the death of Vijayakanth and extended condolences to his family, fans and followers.
