Actress Sagarika Ghatge Khan has launched hand-painted textiles under her firm Akutee says it’s an ode to timeless elegance and her mother.

Akutee took place in Mumbai in attendance of her husband and former Indian cricketer Zaheer Khan, along with Huma Qureshi, Yuvraj Singh, Rhea Chakraborty, Ashish Nehra, Mandira Bedi, Ashish Chaudhary, Samita Banerjee and many more.

With her brand Akutee, Sagarika aims to pay tribute to the women of her family tree, she said, “It is an ode to timeless elegance, and style, the inspiration are the women of my family and family history, and biggest inspiration for me to launch Akutee is my mother. She is an artist, this brand is all about hand-painting, and hand-embroidery, my painter has been painting since she was sixteen years old, and now everything is painted on your saree art-work and I am very excited for it. It is literally art work on your garment.”

For the occasion, Sagarika opted for an onion and stone grey shade silver silk tissue saree with hand-painted and embroidered, while Zaheer Khan opted for a more traditional round neck coat and matching pants.

Talking about his role in pushing his wife and mother in law to star the venture, Zaheer Khan said, “My mother in law has been painting for the longest, but she would do it for herself, she would wear it, now I think, more than inspiring them, I had to pushed them both, my wife and mother in law, to put it out there for everyone.”

On the work front, Sagarika was last seen in the web series Footfairy in 2020.
