Inspired By Illaiyaraaja And RD Burman Says Rockstar DSP

Music director and composer Devi Sri Prasad, who recently won the National Film Award for Best Music Director, credits Illaiyaraaja, RD Burman, SD Burman, and Michael Jackson for influencing his work.

Devi Sri Prasad hosted a party for media to celebrate his National Award Win in Mumbai.

While taking about the people, who has been his inspiration, DSP said, “My all-time inspiration, the god of music Ilaiyaraaja sir, and my icon and idol is Michael Jackson. I grew up listening and watching these two legends.”

“When it comes to Hindi music, because of my father, I got the chance to experience everything from Ghazal to modern songs, my father would play songs of Kishore Kumar and Mohammad Rafi, I am huge fan of RD Burman music and of-course SD Burman as well.”

“With RD Burman, the specialty of music, if you take any of his song and release it right now. It will still top all the charts. These people are legends, they taught us how to make music” added DSP.

Further adding about the celebration, DSP said, “Media helped me wedge the gap between artist and the audience, and I never really got the chance to express my gratitude, so this is me saying, thank you everyone.”

On the work front, Devi Sri Prasad will next be composing the music for the sequel to the acclaimed Telugu film Pushpa 2: The Rule, Ustaad Bhagat Singh and Kanguva.
