Ashish And Soni Brought Retro Mania To Forefront At LFW

For Ashish N Soni, his emphasis on the retro mania of the seventies has always been fascinating. His “The Retro Orchard” collection at Lakmé Fashion Week in partnership with FDCI, was a nostalgic journey through the striking Seventies, when bold colours, thick lines, flowery patterns, and graphics played an important role.

The collection gave men’s and women’s wear a balanced offering that pointed towards a gender-neutral look. Ashish brought in the fashion direction of that era with colourful plaids for menswear. Plaids proved to be the main fabric of choice for Ashish, and they were observed for shirts as well as suits, while brown, a favourite of that decade, worked with primary hues. The equality was also visible in the construction as women’s wear clothing was at times inspired by men’s silhouettes.

It was evident that for inspirations at times, Ashish flashed back to the early Seventies, when Bianca Jagger wore a whit tuxedo to Studio 54. Trousers proved to be a popular offering in Ashish’s collection, which will undoubtedly encourage women to pay attention to them for work as well as formal wear. There was an interesting display of double-breasted suits, wide shoulders and matching wide lapels for both sexes.

Ashish N Soni said, “This has been a fun season for me personally. as someone who was born in the early 70s and being a child of that decade, I always felt like that decade did not have a profound impact on me in terms of fashion. But today I feel deep down I obviously had a visual connect with the era and its elements that were all around me as a child. This collection is an ode to that connect my interpretation of it for Lakmé Fashion Week in partnership with FDCI.”

Ashish N Soni’s “The Retro Orchard” turned back the clock to the Seventies for its inspiration but ensured that it was as relevant in the 21st century with the right style directions for trend setters.
