Not Everything Is About Money For Me Says Akshay Kumar About Mission Raniganj

Mumbai, 9th October 2023 (Newshelpline) -  Actor Akshay Kumar, who has done a series of films based on social issues, said that for him it’s not about commercial value or money, now he wants to give back to society as well, in terms of knowledge, awareness and self-realization.

Akshay Kumar along with Tinu Suresh Desai, Varun Badola and Jameel Khan were interacting with the media for the success of Mission Raniganj.

Talking about picking an off-beat subject for a commercial movie, which might not have high commercial value, Akshay Kumar said, “I like doing stories like these. When I did Airlift, not that many people knew about the rescue mission, so I like telling stories like these. I did a movie on sanitary pad, I did a movie about toilet, I am aware that these kinds of movie don’t have high commercial value, as compared to Jawan, Pathaan, Singh Is King, Rowdy Rathore, but these films have different values, it is about knowledge, self-realization, and awareness. I did OMG2 based on sex education, as I want people to be aware about it, it’s not all about what money I can get, it is about what I can give back to society.”

Akshay Kumar also credits mining engineer Late Jaswant Singh Gill, who saved 65 miners stuck in water-flooded mines for playing a Sardaar on-screen.

He said, “Tinu Suresh Desai arranged for me to talk to Jaswant Gill, and he is one who told me, make sure you make this film playing a sardar, and wear the turban (pagg), and I did.”

“I don’t think I know that many people, who despite knowing that this could lead to sure shot death, decides to go 350 foot down in the ground, to a place filled with water and massive CO2, but he did it” added Akshay.

The film also stars Parineeti Chopra and is backed by Pooja Entertainments.
