'Making an original film is more difficult than adapting a story', Vishal Bhardwaj

Director Vishal Bhardwaj's two projects 'Charlie Chopra & The Mystery of Solang Valley' and 'Khufiya' have been released back to back on OTT platforms which is a treat for his fans. The director who is the king of adaptations revealed it is always more difficult to make an original film than adapting a story.

Vishal Bhardwaj who has given us some amazing films like 'Haider','Maqbool', 'Omkara' is back with two adaptations. 'Charlie Chopra & The Mystery of Solang Valley' is a mystery thriller based on a crime mystery novel by Agatha Christie, The Sittaford Mystery and Khufiya is based on Amar Bhushan's espionage novel Escape to Nowhere. In a candid conversation, the director opened up on making an original film and adapting a story .

He said, "It is always difficult to make an original story because it takes a lot of time to find the structure for it but yes the satisfaction of making an original film is different. To make an adaptation is easy as you have many references with you."

Talking about working with Ali Fazal and Wamiqa Gabbi, he said, "Ali is a very generous actor. Most of the times, I have seen actors being very selfish but he is a very giving actor. Wamiqa is trusting actor. She trusted me through my process."

Charlie Chopra & The Mystery of Solang Valley' is a mystery thriller series on Sony LIV directed by Vishal Bhardwaj. The show is based on a crime mystery novel by Agatha Christie, The Sittaford Mystery.  It is produced by Vishal Bhardwaj Pictures, Priti Sahani, and Agatha Christie Limited. The series stars Wamiqa Gabbi, Priyanshu Painyuli, Naseeruddin Shah, Lara Dutta, Neena Gupta, Ratna Pathak Shah, Gulshan Grover , Paoli Dam , Vivaan Shah and Imaad Shah.

Khufiya is a spy thriller film written, produced and directed by Vishal Bhardwaj. The film is based on Amar Bhushan's espionage novel Escape to Nowhere. It stars Tabu, Wamiqa Gabbi and Ali Fazal. The film is currently streaming on Netflix.
