Uncomfortable Costume Can Bring Chaos On Set Says Ashutosh Gowariker

Filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker while attending the Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival on Tuesday divulged that he makes sure that actor and actress are comfortable with their costume, otherwise there is a lot of chaos on sets.

Ashutosh Gowariker along with Sonam Kapoor, Siddharth Roy Kapur, Sriram Raghavan, Hussain Zaidi and more hosted Jio MAMI (Mumbai Academy of Moving Image) Mumbai Film Festival’s the new edition of its popular options market Word To Screen.

Talking about the importance of costume on sets, Ashutosh said, “First and foremost, actor has been comfortable, before he/she comes on the sets. And the biggest bother any director can have, when the actress starts to feel from inside that she doesn’t look good. And that can creates chaos on the sets. Because the lines are not going to follow through rightly because she is consciously bothered. It is like us getting ready for the party, until we get the right pair of shoes, with right bag, the right stall, we don’t step out of the house, it is the same thing.”

“I’d like to do as many sittings and discussions as possible with costume designers, with actor and actress, maybe do all the trails and make sure they are comfortable in what they are wearing. And that is what comes on sets, everything is just sorted” added Ashutosh.

Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival will take place from Friday, October 27 to Sunday, November 5, 2023, in Mumbai.

On the work front, Ashutosh is making a comeback to acting with series Kaala Paani, and he is making a directorial comeback with a biopic titled Shankar based on Adi Shankaracharya
