Replacing Amrish Puri Is Impossible Says Anil Sharma
Filmmaker Anil Sharma says finding a replacement for Amrish Puri Saab in Gadar -2 was an impossible task, as the legendary actor cannot be replaced.
Anil Sharma was interacting with Newshelpline on the sidelines of Gadar -2 trailer launch in Mumbai.
Late actor Amrish Puri played the role of main antagonist in Gadar-1, and his role has its own cult following.
Talking about finding a worthy replacement for the legendary actor in Gadar-2, filmmaker Anil Sharma said, “Finding a replacement for Amrish Puri Saab is impossible, I miss him a lot, had he been alive he would certainly be a part of this movie. Over time there were only two questions that the whole country has ever asked me, first who will be the villain of this movie, and second what kind of music will the movie have, will it match the music of Gadar -1 or not.”
“The prep was done, the movie started rolling and we were still trying to find our villain, and trust me I tried everywhere, down south, Bollywood, and out of the country, we did so many screen-tests, but to no avail. We were concerned until someone showed me a video of Manish Wadhawa, and after a screen-test and many meetings, we kind of took a sigh of relief” added Anil.
