Idea Was To Incorporate The Soul Of Gadar, Rather Than Its Brand Says Anil Sharma

Filmmaker Anil Sharma shares an interesting story about creating a worthy script for Gadar 2, which incorporate the soul of Gadar Ek Prem Katha, but not the brand.

Anil Sharma along with Mithoon and Udit Narayan were interacting with Newshelpline during a press conference in Mumbai.

When asked about a huge gap of 22 years between the sequels, Anil Sharma said, “I’d always wanted to make Gadar 2, over time a lot of people asked me about it, Zee Studios, Sunny Deol and even audience kept asking me about part 2. And Sunny Deol is someone who doesn’t really think too much about commercial aspect of the film, he doesn’t think like that, he is very humble, even he would ask me every now and then, do you have a story. And I would reply, no, not yet.”

“I kid you not, I must have had 100 narrations with writers, about the possible story of Gadar 2. Even I thought about 10-20 stories, I even asked Shaktimaan Talwar to keep searching you story. I never wanted to use the brand of Gadar for the second part. We wanted to use the soul of the movie rather than the brand. It would be hard to explain what the first movie response was like, there were mid-night shows, jam packed cinema halls, it was not just a movie, it was an emotion.”

“Shakitmaan came to me during Navratri, and he narrated me the idea, I liked it, and within five minutes I convinced Sunny Deol and everyone else, see, the story that clicks and you understand within five minutes, that’s the real and right story. It took us another two years to write the script” added Anil Sharma.
