Things Are Changing And I Am Hopeful Says Vidya Balan About Gender-Representation In Hindi Cinema
Mumbai, 28th June 2023 (Newshelpline) - Actress Vidya Balan is a force to reckon with when it comes to women empowerment, graced the release of the comprehensive research report on gender- representation in Hindi cinema, said she is hopeful for the future as things are changing.

When asked about gender representation issues in India, Vidya Balan said, “It is worldwide, but things are changing, and we need to change it, there is a change, but the more we talk about it, the more awareness it will create, and in return, there will be more changes. And I am hopeful that things are changing for the better.”
Adding about women empowering stories not being made in many numbers, Vidya said, “we can’t make as many stories as we like for the movies, but we’re making stories for the OTT, as there is a wide variety of audience. And I feel bad when someone says this kind of story won’t work in films, but nonetheless we’re able to tell that story on OTT.”
Gender representation needs to be addressed across all levels and at all levels, starting at grass-root level, but Vidya said, it doesn’t matter where it starts, as long as it starts. She added, “The change must come from grassroot level, but we’re hoping the change comes outward-in, if not inward-out.”
