Talking About Mental Health Is Empowerment Says Rajshri Deshpande

Mumbai, 28th June 2023 (Newshelpline) - Actor and activist Rajshri Deshpande says that talking about mental-health illness and dealing with it is also empowerment.

Rajshri Deshpande for interacting with Newshelpline promoting her new movie titled Privacy, which has been selected for Bifan Film Festival.

When asked about women empowerment and off-screen work, Rajshri said, “I won’t say anything about women empowerment, but talk about different kind of empowerment. Mental health illness is a reality, and we need to work on it, that is the most important thing. As a society, we need to understand that people around us are going through something or the other, even on an individual level one is always going through something, we need to understand it, we need to learn about it, and seek help. Try to educate people around you about mental illness, this is also empowerment - to learn about oneself.”

Talking about the film which will screen at the prestigious Bifan Film Festival, Rajshri said, “Bifan is a genre film festival in South Korea, my film Privacy is selected for the film festival, and I think it is a huge honor for all of us to be part of that festival. The film is a story about a girl named Rupali, it is a story of an ordinary girl, who is living her life out of sheer will, and what happens to her, is the entire film.”

Privacy’ is a social thriller and marks the directorial debut of Sudeep Kanwal. The film follows the journey of Roopali, a distressed Mumbai surveillance center operator, who ignores protocol and begins to investigate incidents happening on her watch.

The film also stars Nishank Verma, Sandesh Kulkarni, Saurabh Goyal, Chhaya Kadam, Rushad Rana and Sagar Salunke in pivotal roles.
