I Was Trolled For Calling Out Byjus Says Hansal Mehta

Hansal Mehta was trolled and abused online when he tweeted about dishonest approach of Byjus, but now when the education-tech company is falling apart, the filmmaker has the final say.

Edu-Tech firm, Byju's is facing multiple challenges ranging from its top executives resignations to employees row, and filmmaker Hansal Mehta dolls out a zinger.

Sharing a tweet on his micro-blogging profile, Hansal wrote, “I’d called out Byjus when they came to my house trying to sell programs that my daughter did not need during the pandemic. They tried to convince her that she was poor academically in order to make an extra buck. I had to drive them out of my house. I was trolled for mocking the so called rags to riches story. I had to delete my tweets because of the abuse. As their house of cards begins to collapse it’s time to remind ourselves that not all rags to riches stories are stories of honest intentions and legitimate wins.”

The education-tech platform is facing challenges at every front. The company is fighting multiple battles related to regulatory compliance, valuation markdowns and debt defaults. The company is also facing the threat of a formal investigation by the Indian government.

On the work front, Hansal Mehta is backing the second edition of Scam franchise, the second one is based on Telgi stamp scam titled Scam 2003.

Hansal is shooting for The Buckingham Murders, starring Kareena Kapoor Khan in the lead role, the film also marks debut of the actress as a producer. The film is a slick, edgy, new-age thriller.
