We Need To Support Theaters Says Namashi Chakraborty

Mithun Chakraborty’s son Namashi Chakraborty says the audience should support the cinema halls, as they are facing a dire bad phase right now because there isn’t much footfall.

Namashi was integrating with Newshelpline on the sidelines of a beauty brand launch in Mumbai.

Namashi made his debut with Bad Boy, helmed by Rajkumar Santoshi, the film tanked at the box-office. We asked what’s next in store, he said, “After the theatrical run, Bad boy is releasing on OTT. After that, I am discussing two projects right now, nothing has been finalized yet, but once everything is penned and papered, I'd be the first one to announce.”

Further adding, Namashi chalked the failure of his debut movie as people aren’t going to theaters to watch the film and urged everyone to support cinema halls. He said, “Right now, I am just urging everyone to watch films, theaters are in a bad condition right now as people don’t watch movies these days, even my film, unfortunately not many people watch it in theaters. Go and watch films in theaters, understand that films are a little up and down, but support theaters because I think the film industry is in a very bad phase, so we need to help movies for them to work.”

When asked if he’d interested in venturing into reality show space, with Bigg Boss or Khatron Ke Khiladi, Namashi said, “I get call from Bigg Boss every year, but I think Bigg Boss requires you to do a lot, I mean, kitchen, clean bathroom, and lot of other stuff as well, and I have been a little spoilt since childhood, so I don’t want people to think I am such a big baby. I would love to do Bigg Boss at a different stage in my life, and as far as KKK (Khatron Ke Khiladi) is concerned, I really don’t think I can eat cockroach or Scorpios, I might a little issue with that, but I have never been approached for it.”

Namashi also directed and acted in a short film in 2013, titled Hero. He also worked as an assistant director in the movie ‘Ishqedarriyaan’ in which Mahaakshay Chakraborty (Mimo, his brother) was the lead actor.
