Most Cherished Gift, A Saree From Lata Mangeshkar Says Vidya Balan

Mumbai, 25th April 2023 (Newshelpline) - Actress Vidya Balan, who was honoured at the Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Awards, shares a heart-warming story about Lata Mangeshkar and a special gift that actress received from the legendary singer.

Vidya Balan along with Pankaj Udhas, Asha Bhosle, Jackie Shroff, Pandit Hridaynath Mangeshkar, Adinath Mangeshkar, Ravi Joshi, Krishna Mangeshkar, Mangal Prabhat Lodha, Vishad Mafatlal, Prasad Oak, and more were present at the award ceremony held in Mumbai last night.

While talking to Newshelpline, actress Vidya Balan shared about meeting with Late legendary singer and her warmth and graciousness, she said, “I’d always thought that I was unlucky, because I never got the opportunity to act on songs sung by Lata Mangeshkar, and some- where in 2015, I was at an award show and Lata Ji was sitting right in-front of me, and I was just admiring her. Someone told Lata Ji that I was awe-struck with her and next I know, she sent me a Saree, which I am wearing right now”

“When I was able to gather enough courage to call her, I called her and had a lovely chat with her, and I told her that I wanted to meet her and I wanted to meet her wearing the same which she gifted, but I never got the opportunity. Perhaps that is reason why I am here today, getting his award and I am wearing the same saree” added Vidya.

Meanwhile on the work front, Vidya was last seen in thriller Jalsa (2022), she will next feature alongside Pratik Gandhi in an as-yet untitled romantic comedy and reunite with Anu Menon for a murder mystery film titled Neeyat.
