Mumbai, 29th March 2023 (Newshelpline) - National Award-winning film editor and writer Apurva Asrani fondly remembers veteran actor Utpal Dutt on his birth anniversary.

Actor, director, and writer-playwright Utpal Dutt, became a pioneering figure in Modern Indian theatre, when he founded the "Little Theatre Group" in 1949. He also acted in over 100 Bengali and Hindi films in a career spanning 40 years, and remains most known for his roles in films such as Mrinal Sen’s Bhuvan Shome, Satyajit Ray’s Agantuk, Gautam Ghose’s Padma Nadir Majhi and Hrishikesh Mukherjee's breezy Hindi comedies such as Gol Maal and Rang Birangi.

On his 91st birth anniversary, sharing pictures of Utpal Dutt on his social media, Apurva Asrani tweeted, “Remembering #UtpalDutt for his brilliant collaborations with Satyajit Ray. As a tyrannical king in #HirakRajarDeshe; a cunning businessman, Maganlal Meghraj, in #JoiBabaFelunath; as a mysterious guest, Manmohan Mitra, in Ray's last, #Agantuk. Apurva Asrani penned the human rights drama Aligarh, the courtroom drama Criminal Justice: Behind Closed Doors, has co-written and edited the film Shahid, has edited the popular gangster film Satya and also the web-series Made in Heaven.
