Bhagyashree enjoyed playing Thalaivi's mother Sandhya's character on screen

Sharing a glimpse of her character from the film, the actress wrote,"Get ready for Thalaivi, super interesting biopic of CM Jayalalithaa. Her personal journey from an aspiring student to a reluctant but star performer to the CM of Tamil Nadu. A force to reckon with. I enjoyed being able to be part of this film, portraying her mother, Sandhya..an integral part of her life."

Thalaivi is a biographical film covering the life of Jayalalithaa, late politician and film actress who served six terms as the Chief Minister of Tamil Naidu . The film is directed by A.L.Vijay and produced by Vishnu Vardhan Induri and Shailesh R. Singh. Kangana Ranaut will be seen playing the lead role in the film. It also features Arvind Swami and Prakash Raj in prominent roles.

The film is scheduled for a theatrical release on 10 September.

Apart from this film, Bhagyashree will also be seen in Prabhas and Pooja Hegde starrer 'Radhe Shyam' which is a love story set in the 1960-70's in Paris.  The film will be released in the cinemas on 14 January 2022.
