Abhishek Bachchan participated in BMC's Be a Tree Parent MEGA Vriksha campaign and adopted a neem tree. Here he spoke to News Helpline about the initiative and said,"I would like to congratulate BMC for doing such great work. This initiative of 'Adopt a tree' by Vishwas Mote is commendable. The cyclone brought a devastating effect on the tress all over the city. So many trees fell. We should all come forward and adopt a tree and make Mumbai a greener place to live in.”

He further added,"We forgot to acknowledge the work done by BMC and the frontline workers over the past one and a half year. This initiative by BMC is fantastic.”

When asked what inspired him to be a part of this social cause, he said,"I don't want to call it a social cause. This is our civic duty as citizens of the earth. Social Cause is something that has charitable connotation attached to it. Planting trees will have wonderful impact on the environment.”

He further said," We are always quick enough to ask what the government is doing, but we forget to ask our duties as citizens to protect the environment. We should all try and plant as many trees and act as responsible citizens.”

Talking about the bad phase the industry is going through, he said,"It is not right to say only the industry is going through a bad phase. It is a difficult situation for everybody. In such bad times, humanity has to shine through. Therefore, we should all do whatever we can to help others within our own capacity.”

On the workfront, Abhishek will next be seen in 'Bob Biswas' directed by Diya Annapurna Ghosh. The film is a spin off to the 2012 thriller Kahaani.  He will also be seen in Dasvi which is a social comedy film directed by Tushar Jalota.
