Salman Khan compares single screen theatres with graveyard; says nowadays audience don’t go there to watch films

Two weeks ago, putting an end to all speculations around the release of his much-awaited film 'Radhe,' Salman Khan announced that action-drama film will be released on the big screens on Eid this year.

Single screen theatres thanked Khan for his kind gesture towards them, talking about it, he said, “There are three films on mine which are ready for the release and the problem of single screen theatres is that there are very few films which get released over there. Nowadays, there is kabristan (graveyard) kind of feel in single screen theatres as no one goes there to watch films. Obviously, the people who own it have no other option than running it and there are so many theatres that have shut down due to financial reasons; I feel it is not a good sign. We are in the profession of acting, so we make films but where should we release it ?. It’s a catch-22 situation as we are incomplete without them (theatre owner) and they are incomplete without us. I have a good hold over single screen theatres, so they (theatre owners) requested me to release ‘Radhe’ in single screen theatres.”

Khan once again urged single screen theatre owners to follow safety precautions while screening films, he said, “Covid-19 is still there, so we have just requested theatres owners to follow safety precautions while screening the film, so that no one gets infected by it. Younger generation is surviving this period, so the problem is not about the younger generation but we have to take care of our parents and grandparents. If they get infected because of us (younger people) then we will feel that guilt for our lifetime, so that is the only thing we have to be careful of. Now the vaccination drive has also started, so we are going towards a safe zone. I hope and pray that 2021 and 2022 will be better than 2020 for all of us and we will make growth in our lives.”

‘Radhe’ is directed by Prabhu Deva and it also stars Disha Patani, Randeep Hooda and Jackie Shroff in lead roles.

'Radhe' is co-produced by Salman Khan, Sohail Khan and Atul Agnihotri under the banners Salman Khan Films, Sohail Khan Productions, and Reel Life Production.
