Militants Surrender in Kakapora district in Kashmir

On Friday night, the security forces had launched a cordon-and-search operation at Lelhaar in the Kakapora area following the information regarding the presence of militants.

After a night long of firing from both sides, the two militants had laid down their arms before the authorities after being trapped during an encounter. They surrendered before the forces along with their two AK rifles.

“The two ultras were identified as Akeel Ahmad Lone and Rouf Ul Islam. Lone had sustained splinter injuries in his right foot and was taken to the police hospital for treatment”, the security forces said.

The search operation turned into an encounter after the hiding terrorists opened fire. The encounter had started at around 8pm on Friday, Kashmir Zone police tweeted. After a night of stand-off, the two terrorists surrendered with their AK rifles, the officials said.
