Sunny Singh (born Sunny Singh Nijjar; 6 October 1988) is an Indian film actor, former model, television personality, martial artist and theatre artist. He is the son of award-winning action director, Jai Singh Nijjar.Born into a Punjabi Sikh family, Nijar started his film career with a cameo role in the romantic comedy Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji (2011), directed by Madhur Bhandarkar. He then earned praise for his portrayal of an abusive person in the romantic drama Akaash Vani (2013), directed by Luv Ranjan. Nijar had his first commercial success in Bollywood when he starred as one of the three friends alongside Omkar Kapoor and Kartik Aaryan in the romantic buddy-comedy Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 (2015), also directed by Luv Ranjan. The film also earned him a nomination for the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut. He then starred in Ranjan's romantic comedy Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety (2018), which proved to be a breakthrough for Nijar.


Nijar played the role of Saksham in Star Plus's popular running series Kasautii Zindagii Kay in 2007. He then went on to appear in Star One's show Shakuntala in 2009 as Karan.

Beginning of film career and first commercial success (2011–15) Nijar started his film career by playing a cameo role as Akash in Madhur Bhandarkar's romantic-comedy Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji (2011) opposite Ajay Devgn, Emraan Hashmi and Omi Vaidya. The film under-performed at the box office. Nijar next signed Luv Ranjan's romantic film Akaash Vani (2013) opposite Kartik Aaryan and Nushrat Bharucha. The film was about two lovers Akaash (Aaryan) and Vani (Bharucha) who are separated when Vani is married to an abusive man Ravi (Nijar). It received positive reviews from critics, but under-performed at the box office. Nijar's next role was in the sequel to the romantic-comedy film Pyaar Ka Punchnama (2011), entitled Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 (2015). Directed by Luv Ranjan and co-starring an ensemble cast of Kartik Aaryan, Nushrat Bharucha, Omkar Kapoor, Ishita Raj Sharma and Sonnalli Seygall, the film was about three best friends who fell in love with different types of girls. The film emerged as Nijar's first commercial success.

Breakthrough (2018–present)

Breakthrough (2018–present) After a three year-hiatus from Bollywood, Nijar comeback and marked his third collabortion with Aaryan, Bharucha and Ranjan by starring in Ranjan's romantic-comedy Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety (2018). The film is about Sonu (Aaryan) who tries to separate his best friend Titu (Nijar) from his fiancée Sweety (Bharucha). With grossings of ₹148.71 crore (US$21 million), the film entered the list of the highest-grossing Indian films of 2018 and proved to be a breakthrough for Nijar. He made a cameo appearance in the directorial debut of Akiv Ali's romantic comedy De De Pyaar De. As of August 2018, Nijar has committed to star in debutant director Navjot Gulati's romantic comedy Jai Mummy Di (2019). Co-starring an ensemble cast of Sonnalli Seygall, Supriya Pathak and Poonam Dhillon, the film is scheduled to release on 12 July 2019.
